Did you know that you can get low-cost fruit and veggies delivered every month right to St. Andrew’s Place? The Good Food Box is a non-profit fresh fruit and vegetable distribution program. The low cost of the Good Food Box is made possible because of group buying. By pooling their money, Good Food Box participants can buy food wholesale and get better prices. The program is non-profit and almost entirely volunteer-run.
St. Andrew’s Place has been a host site since January. Residents and members of the community can order and pre-pay for a box before the second Wednesday of each month, and pick it up in the second-floor gym at 111 Larch St. on the third Wednesday of that month. A large box is $17 and a small box is $8. Orders can be placed by the second Wednesday of the month with Natasha in the office of St. Andrew’s Place or online at www.goodfoodboxsudbury.ca, or with host site co-ordinator Colleen Burns on delivery day (for the following month).
Any food not picked up on the delivery day between 4 and 5 pm will be donated. No food will be held. Also, please bring your own bags to pick up your fresh fruit and veggies. For more information please contact Colleen Burns at 705-470-5886 or [email protected].
How does it work?
Each month, customers pre-pay $17 (large) or $8 (small) for a box of fresh fruits and vegetables. Food is then delivered to the packing site where volunteers separate the variety of fruits and vegetables into individual boxes. The boxes are then distributed to various host sites throughout the Sudbury region. Customers pick up their box directly from host site.Leave a comment >>
